 Comparative study to compare the effectiveness of Natural Enzymes oral vs injectable and Valproate in Tonic Clonic Seizures of primary generalized epilepsy.

Abstract.

A randomized open comparative study was conducted to see the effectiveness of natural enzyme oral (cerebrase) vs injectable (Coliacron) on tonic clinic seizures of primary generalized epilepsy, using valporate as standard drug. study was conducted at Epilepsy clinic Ahbab hospital Ravi Road Lahore and psychiatric clinic abadat hospital Peshawar random selection technique was used to draw sample of 90 epileptic patients that were further divided into three groups and were administered cerebrase,Coliacron and valporate Age range of the sample was 5- 15 yrs. With no symptoms of mental retardation and neurological deficits pre post testing of each subject was done on a clinical reporting form at the first and last visit measuring medical and family history with frequency duration and type of seizures six readings were also taken regarding improvement of the subject on a subjective rating by the consultant psychiatrist at the rating scale of 100. Bender Gestalt test was also administered to the subject to estimate their maturation intelligence and psychological disturbances Result suggest that group taking oral enzyme (Cerebrase) showed significant improvement 42.83% as compared to injectable 26.2% controlled group taking valporate showed maximum improvement i.e 69.3%
